[English]

Despite the literature's emphasis on the need for technological start-ups in the upstream petroleum industry, these companies cannot benefit of their technological innovations and face serious challenges in commercializing their innovations. They are mainly acquired and their beneftins exploited by large established companies that own complementary assets.
In the context of commercialization in the literature, the internal and external requirements of the industry are not taken into account. Therefore, in this study, by examining eight projects from four active companies in the upstream petroleum industry, while recognizing the strategic options of commercialization and effective factors within and outside the organization, the conceptual framework of planning a commercialization strategy for technological innovation in the upstream petroleum industry was examined.
This research was based on the extended case study method and the coding method was used in data analysis. According to the findings, in addition to the conceptual framework, flowchart for decision-making was obtained to select the commercialization strategic option by managers and start-up owners.
